Our Purpose

As a regulatory body, our primary objective is to protect the public. We achieve this by :

  • Setting and maintaining National Occupational Standards (NOS) for Thai massage.
  • Maintaining a voluntary register of competent and safe practitioners.
  • Providing a robust framework for professional conductand ethics.


The Board of Directors

The UKTMRC is led by a Board of Directors committed to the health and safety of the public and the sustainable growth of the Thai massage profession. The board oversees the strategic direction of the council and ensures we remain true to our mission of Cultural authenticity and professional excellence.


Board Responsibilities 

  • Strategic Oversight : Setting the long-term goals for the regulation of Thai massage in the UK.
  • Standard Setting : Reviewing and updating practice guidelines to ensure they meet national safety and competency requirements.
  • Ethical leadership : Upholding the Council's Code of Conduct and ensuring all registered members practice with integrity.
  • Public Advocacy : Acting as a bridge between the Thai massage community, the public, and UK health and safety authorities.

Regulatory Framework

The UKTMRC operates under the company registration number 17014474. As a Community Interest Company, We are legally bound to ensure that our assets and profits aew used for the benefit of the community we serve - both the public seeking treatments and the therapist striving for professional recognition.

Public confidence is tre cornerstone of our work. We ensure that every therapist recommended or registered by the UKTMRC has:

1. Verified Qualifications : Evidence of training that meets UK national standards.

2. Insurance : Valid professional indemnity and public liability insurance.

3. Safe Practice : Adherence to stric hygiene and clinical safety protocols.

4. Competence : A proven understanding of the anatomy, physiology, and traditional techniques of Thai massage.
